Reason #5 Sarah Palin shouldn't be Veep
As governor of Alaska, she presented this opening statement to the Alaska Independence Party convention:

This group is a radical right-wing fringe political party in AK. They believe that Alaskans were deprived of their rights in 1958 and their stated goal is:

Until we as Alaskans receive our Ultimate Goal, the AIP will continue to strive to make Alaska a better place to live with less government interference in our everyday lives.
The Alaskan Independence Party's goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:
1) Remain a Territory.
2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
3) Accept Commonwealth status.
4) Become a State.
The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party's founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences.

Some other fun quotes from their website:

"The biggest flaw we have in the present constitution is that it is a pure socialist document. Private property and individual rights are sacrificed to the collective government as a whole."
"The AIP supports the right of the individual to keep and bear arms.
Gun control is hitting your target."
"The AIP supports "Jobs for Alaskans...First!"
If you work in Alaska you should live in Alaska."

The list goes on and on. Oh, and by the way, Todd Palin is a member of AKIP.
